About the Coastal Heritage Collection

These stories were collected as part of the Coastal Heritage Experience, a project of SmartLabrador and the Labrador Straits Historical Development Corporation. With funding from the International Grenfell Association, we collected stories about Women's Work to include on this website.
The Coastal Heritage Experience collection contains over 1,000 stories and photographs collected since 2008. The collection is available to the public at the Forteau Telecentre, in the E.M. Taylor Resource Centre, in Forteau, NL.
The stories and photographs in the collection are being used to develop heritage tourism products for the Labrador Straits region. We have partnered with the Seaview Restaurant to produce the "Pure Labrador Cookbook", and with the Point Amour Lighthouse Anniversary Celebrations to produce a CD of stories and music, "Between the Wind and the Waves".
